CYBERBULLYING

CYBERBULLYING

What is? Cyberbullying is bullying that takes place using electronic technology. Persons that suffer cyberbullying, usually suffer school bullying, but the difference is that teachers can't intervene on the Internet.

It includes: cell phones, computers, tablets, text messages, chat, websites…

Some examples are: sending hateful messages or even death threats to children, spreading lies about them online, making nasty comments on their social networking profiles...

How to react?

  • Don’t respond. The best way to respond to a cyberbully is to ignore it. Although it is hard, it is better to stop and say to a parent or trusted adult instead.

  • Be aware of the effects of cyberbullying. Kids experience a wide variety of effects even suicidal. Be very aware of the consequences and don’t be afraid to get the help.

  • Keep copies of all the cyberbullying. Try to save all messages, comments and posts as evidence. Although your reaction may be to delete everything, save it to show to another people that can help you.
